Deadline for EU and Dutch students is May 1 (non EU March 1)!
The Department of Sociology and the Interuniversity Centre for Social Science Theory and Methodology (ICS) at the University of Groningen is now accepting a limited number of applications for the 2-year Research Master. The Sociology stream is part of an interdisciplinary Research Master in Behavioural and Social Sciences that has been ranked by students as the best Research Master in the Netherlands for two years in a row (Elsevier, 2008; 2009).
The Sociology stream of the Research Master programme in Groningen distinguishes itself from some of the larger Research Master degrees. Students benefit from:
-
selection of only a limited number of up to 10 sociology students each year
-
small classes and seminars
-
opportunity to work closely with staff in an apprenticeship style
-
active collaboration in one of the five core research groups
-
entirely English-language programme
-
theory-driven empirical research
-
training the most advanced quantitative methods available
-
being embedded in a larger interdisciplinary research master with approximately 25 students each year
-
supportive student and departmental culture
-
international
environment of students and instructors from within and outside of Europe
-
student assistantships available on a competitive basis
