Water

Life on Earth would not be possible without water. We ourselves are made up of more than sixty percent water, and water covers about seventy-one percent of the Earth’s surface.

The Earth’s water probably came from two sources: some from the Earth’s interior and some from comets. It is even possible that comets once brought life to our planet in this way.

Drinking water is becoming increasingly scarce, with demand exceeding the natural supply. But water is unevenly distributed. Worldwide there are 748 million people who have no access to clean drinking water, 120 million of them in Europe. A thousand children die every day from a lack of clean water.
