At your enrolment you will receive a student number and an account. A student-account basically consists of four accounts, but login name and password are synchronized. The four accounts are: access to the faculty Novell-servers for use of applications, access to the Internet and storing data; an e-mail account; access to Nestor (the electronic learning environment of the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen); and access to ProGressWWW where you can enrol in courses and where you can find your study progress. You need the following to login: the name or address of the server, a login name and a password. Your login name is made up of your student number preceded by and s (the s of student). Your initial password will be sent in a letter. On http://progresswww.nl/wachtwoord/ you can alter your password.

Student PCs
Nijenborgh 4 has, along with Physics, five computer rooms (5116.0310, 5116.0303 and 5116.0315, 5113.0303, 5113.0306, 5111.0010) with around 90 computers for all students. Using these PCs you can log onto the faculty network. You will then have access to applications, your own data on the home directory (X:\) and the Internet. Some of the rooms are used for practicals and courses, but when these are not scheduled you can use the room for self-education. Two printers are accessible for students (in 5116.0308 and 5113.0303). Students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences will receive a printing quota every year. If not sufficient, extra quota can be obtained at a price of€ 0.10 per sheet. The extra quota can be purchased at the repro counters.
Some students are entitled to higher quota because of additional jobs. They can make a request at the study counsellor.
