Physical Chemistry of Polymers

The research concerns structure formation in complex polymer systems. Within this programme two different but related lines can be distinguished. In close cooperation with the Helsinki University of Technology, associating polymer systems involving thermoreversible bonding are investigated. The same issues are also addressed for a variety of other systems involving covalent bonding. All these problems are addressed by using theory, computer simulations and experiments in a concerted effort.

Prof. dr. G. ten Brinke

We focus on the preparation and characterization of novel (inorganic) materials and devices

Prof. dr. Thomas Palstra

Polymer Thin Film and Surface Science

  1. the study of the behaviour and properties of polymers in thin films and at surfaces in relation to their application in functional materials, devices, coatings and adhesion in general,
  2. the study of special polymerizations, new polymers and polymerization mechanisms.
Prof. dr. A.J. Schouten
