Student’s association De Chemische Binding
De Chemische Binding (The Chemical Bond) is a student’s association for all Chemistry and Chemical Engineering students of the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. According to our articles of association we protect the interests of students in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.
We try to realize this in several ways. Every year we organize a symposium to give our members an impression of the different specializations in Chemistry. This way you can get an idea how the theories you learn in college are practiced in the chemical industry.
Furthermore, we organize several lectures and excursions each year to give you insight into the different developments in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and bring you into direct contact with interesting companies.
The CB-Stem is our committee that evaluates the different Chemistry and Chemical Engineering courses given at the faculty and tries to improve courses.
De Chemische Binding also provides books every period for our members.
But study is not just learning. That is why De Chemische Binding also organizes a lot of relaxing activities next to the serious activities. We organize parties, weekly drinks, a Christmas dinner, a barbeque to celebrate the end of the year, the nightvolleyballtournament and much more. Every year we also participate in the Bata444 race, a relay run from Nijmegen to Enschede with afterwards the biggest student party in Europe, and the ONCS, a sporting event that lasts two dayswith 500 Chemical and Chemical Engineering students from all over the Netherlands participating. In short De Chemische Binding gives you a life next to your study.
You can become a member when you start your study but later is also possible. The membership fee is €5 per year.
