Scholarships and grants currently available to Research Master and PhD candidates

As of 1 September 2016, the University of Groningen has the new PhD Scholarship Programme . This programme is issued by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science (OCW) within the framework of the national PhD Scholarship Programme Experiment.

The University of Groningen welcomes international PhD students with a competitive scholarship from their home country. To this end, the University will top up the scholarships to the same amount (€ 1.700,-) as that of regular PhD scholarship students in the PhD scholarship programme .

  • The University of Groningen offers scholarships to international students who wish to enroll in Research MA or PhD programmes that are offered by the nine Groningen Graduate Schools, as well as grants for exchanges, short courses and research stays at our University.
