2 internships in Genetics (6 months and 7 months)

As part of obtaining my Bachelors degree, I did two internships at the Genomic Coordination Centre (GCC) Genetics department of the UMCG. One of the best experiences for me were the people. The Genetics department has many people from different backgrounds and expertise. I learned a lot from them and enjoyed their various presentations and discussions. Everyone is quite close, like a family, which makes it easy and less scary to discuss work with Ph.D. students, for example. Another motivating and great thing is the ‘Scrum method’ used at the GCC in combination with the ‘End of Sprints (EOS)’, in which the entire GCC team present the work they performed in the last few weeks, which can then be discussed with other team members.

For those seeking an internship, I'd highly recommend the Genetics department for all the reasons mentioned above ;).
