XVIth Congress of the European Society of Evolutionary Biology

The conference opens on Sunday 20 August. The scientific program consists of 8 parallel sessions each day running from Monday 21 until Friday 25 August. Wednesday afternoon is free for excursions. There are some 350 oral and 1000 poster presentations fitting within 35 symposia selected by the Scientific Committee. There are also eight plenary talks, and lectures by the 2016 and 2017 winners of the John Maynard Smith Prize.

Symposia topics cover the evolution of biological clocks, cognition, communication, sexual selection, sociality, fitness landscapes, recombination rates, chromosomal inversions, gene expression, quantitative genetics and genomics of adaptation, experimental evolution, spatial evolution, urban evolution, co-evolution, phylogenetics, and many more.

Plenary speakers include Linda Partridge, Svante Pääbo, Steve Stearns, Nicole Dubilier, Andreas Wagner, Renée Duckworth, Chris Jiggins and Nina Wedell (Presidential Address).

The Monday program overlaps with the last day of the 3rd Annual Meeting of the International Society of Evolutionary Medicine and Personal Health (ISEMPH). It includes symposia on evolution of ancient diseases, parasites, microbiomes, immunity and ageing.
