Supervisor: Dr. Daniel Valesin (JBI)

Daniel Valesin is an Assistant Professor at the Johann Bernoulli Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science. His research field is probability theory, more specifically interacting particle systems, random graphs and percolation theory. He has made important advances on the study of the contact process, a model for the spread of epidemics on graphs, notably concerning metastability. In percolation theory, he has worked on proving phase transition in models with strong dependence, notably the set of stationary distributions of voter models on the d-dimensional lattice. He has also studied random graph models which are embedded in space and exhibit self-organization and hierarchical structures.
