Degree Programmes

The Engineering and Technology institute Groningen (ENTEG) mainly contributes to the following degree programmes (bachelor and master level):

Industrial Engineering and Management: In this degree programme you learn to approach things from the perspective of the technology as well as the organization. Industrial Engineering and Management involves translating new technologies into usable solutions. You look beyond the technology. You analyse the problem, design a solution and consider the business aspects: finance, planning, logistics, people. A focus lies on how to find solutions to problems while taking on a technical and scientific design perspective.

Chemical Engineering: As a chemical engineer you deal with chemical processes on a major scale. Rather than studying reactions in a lab, you will be involved in chemical processes in factories or optimizing existing production processes. The fascinating thing about chemical engineering is that you're involved in developing new products but you're also thinking about the production process. A Chemical engineer is concerned with the entire development of a new product or processes, from A to Z.

Mechanical Engineering: in this degree programme students are trained to apply principles of engineering, science and mathematics in the modelling, analysis, design and realization of physical systems, components and processes; special focus is on advanced instrumentation, smart factories, and smart and green energy savers.
The University of Groningen so far only offers a Masters programme in Mechanical Engineering. Students from the University of Groningen with a Bachelor Applied Physics have direct access to this Master programme. There are also options to enter the Master via the programme Industrial Engineering and Management, Applied Mathematics, Physics and Astronomy.

Biomedical Engineering: As a biomedical engineer you have knowlegde of a broad range of topics within the field of medical devices (design) and state-of-the-art health technology. You will be able to apply your knowledge to develop new devices – from evermore advanced imaging instruments to scaffolds for tissue engineering, and from sensor systems to new implants and artificial organs.
