Welcoming Dr. Sunkung Choi, Korean Studies

CEASG welcomes Dr. Sunkung Choi, appointed assistant professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business with generous support from the Korea Foundation. Sunkung Choi received her Bachelor degree in Trade and International Studies at Pusan National University in Korea, and studied at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore as an exchange student. She graduated with an MA in Economics at Pusan National University. Sunkung Choi received her Doctoral degree (magna cum laude) at the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany with her dissertation "Effects of Experiencing Economic Crisis on Risk Perception and Risk Attitude – the South Korean Case" (2014). Her research interests include behavior economics and she applies economic experiments as the research method.

At the Faculty of Economics and Business Dr. Choi joins Global Economics & Management. In addition she has research affiliation with CEASG, the interfaculty Centre which secured the funding for the position. Dr. Choi's appointment at the University of Groningen greatly contributes to the development of Korean studies at the University of Groningen, in particular through the development of new modules on the political economy of Korea.

Dr. Choi is one of the organisers of CEASG's Korean studies seminar and opening of a Korea Cornner, 18 December 2014.
