Aim/ Mission The Graduate School of Philosophy within the Faculty of Philosophy, offers a broad programme in philosophy leading towards an M.A. and a Ph.D. The programme includes a Research Master (2 years) and a Ph.D. programme (4 years). The Research Master may be taken as a step towards the Ph.D. programme or as a terminal degree.
Research themes

The school’s courses and coverage are broad, yet certain areas might be noted as particular strengths:

  • History of philosophy-especially mediaeval and renaissance philosophy, modern and continental philosophy, analytical philosophy, history of the cognitive sciences.
  • Ethics
  • Social and political philosophy
  • Cultural philosophy
  • Philosophy of the natural and cognitive sciences
  • Logic and the theory of argumentation
  • Philosophy of mind

Graduate courses have small numbers of students and there is ample opportunity for philosophical exchange with faculty members.
