Bachelor/Master structureAt a traditional research university, such as the University of Groningen, a Bachelor’s degree is awarded to students who have obtained 180 ECTS credits. The minimum number of ECTS credits needed to obtain a Master’s degree is mostly 60 (usually in the fields of humanities, economics, social sciences and law). 120 credits are required for some programmes (mainly in the field of natural sciences), whereas other programmes require 180 credits (as in medical sciences).
