Statutory Basic Healthcare Insurance

All health insurance companies in the Netherlands offer the basic healthcare insurance policy (basisverzekering), and you are free to choose whichever insurance company you prefer. Options include:

Collective insurance University of Groningen

From Menzis, approx. € 90,- per month (not including dental care). Additional packages available if desired. Application forms can be obtained from the International Service Desk or from the Information Desks (in Dutch: Onderwijsbalies) of the different faculties. The basic health insurance is mandatory if you are in paid employment.

Additional insurance

The basic healthcare insurance policy does not include liability insurance, household contents insurance or luggage insurance. It is possible to apply for additional insurance at AON. We strongly recommend that you do so.
