About ESTER

ESTER, European graduate School for Training in Economic and social historical Research

ESTER is an European platform for postgraduate teaching. The ESTER-program offers advanced theoretical and methodological training to postgraduates working on economic and social history. The program, furthermore, offers an international setting for this training by bringing together both young and experienced scholars from many countries and with different backgrounds. The partners in ESTER hope to further comparative and interdisciplinary perspectives within the academic research in Economic and Social History.

ESTER is an institution in which about 50 universities participate. Students from these universities are admitted first. In principle, the courses are open to students from other universities as well. These students, however, must provide sufficient funding from his or her own university. Furthermore, students of all disciplines, not just history, can participate, if their research interest fits within the field of Economic and Social History.

Every year, ESTER organizes a Research Design Course and Advanced Seminars jointly with GLOBALEURONET.
