Each year, approximately one highly gifted child enters primary school. How are these children taught? New research is conducted to gain insight into the extent and diversity of the teaching activities for highly gifted children.
For a long time, the Dutch educational sysytem was mainly focused on average and poor performing students. Nowadays, there is an increasing interest in highly gifted students as well. To exploit their abilities, schools have taken all kinds of actions, like differentiating instruction and organizing special courses. This research project aims at describing the current national situation.
