UG ranks highly on list of ‘green’ universities

05 January 2017

The University of Groningen is number 15 on the new Green Metric list, a list of the ‘greenest’ universities worldwide. Topping the list are the University of California Davis (USA), the University of Nottingham (UK), and Wageningen University & Research (NL).

The UI Green Metric ranking was launched by the Universitas Indonesia (UI) to generate awareness of sustainability issues in university policy-making. This year 516 universities in 74 countries were assessed. Participating institutions were assessed on the indicators ‘setting and infrastructure’, ‘energy and climate change’, ‘waste’, ‘water’, ‘transportation’ and ‘education’.
