Prof. dr. L. Torsi, Università degli Studi di Bari “Aldo Moro” (I) Italy: Organic-Bio-electronic sensorsRoster
AbstractOrganic thin–film transistors (OTFTs) can offer an alternative to overcome some of the commercial biosensors drawbacks. Simple and low-cost fabrication techniques, miniaturization, multi-parametric responses, signal amplification and label-free detection are the main features of OTFT devices [1]. Innovative OTFT biosensors realized through the full integration in the electronic device of the biological recognition elements will be presented. The coupling of the OTFT device and the biological recognition system is actuated by assembling supramolecular structures in which biomolecules such as DNA , enzymes or other proteins are an integral part of the OTFT active material. Preliminary results have shown that the developed devices are very selective and very low detection limit ( LOD ) in the low ppt (10-12) can be achieved, challenging assessed labelled optical methods. Industrial applications are foreseen and interaction with major industrial partners is under evaluation while a patent has been submitted [4].
