Student life

The museum has a collection dedicated to student life consisting of documents, photos, posters, coins, jubilee objects and clothes, like masquerade costumes, student union ties and hats.

The oldest pieces are from the period when the city was surrounded and placed under siege by the Bishop of Munster, Bommenberend.  The flag, or standard, that the volunteer student company (Vrijwillige Studenten Compagnie) was given when they were guarding the city walls along with the memorial coin they received in 1672, form the oldest part of the collection. Student life really began when the first student union (or fraternity) was founded in 1815: the Studentencorps. The collection continues to grow thanks to contemporary additions like objects from the introduction period, the KEI and the various jubilees.
