Welcome: introduction for new staff

The Board of the University considers it important for newcomers at the University of Groningen to not only be acquainted with their direct working or learning environment, but also to get to know the University as a whole. Therefore, the University organizes introduction programmes for new staff members and PhD students in Dutch and English.

Programme

The programme runs from 8.30 a.m. until 1.30 p.m. and includes the following:

• Arrival: coffee
• Tour of the Academy Building, with information about the history of the University
• About the University of Groningen: ambitions and strategy, facts and figures by Dr S. Poppema, President of the Board of the University
• Coffee break
• Bus tour of the University buildings
• Virtual Reality, Zernikeborg
• Lunch
• End of programme, return to city centre by bus

When?

In 2012, the introduction programmes will take place on the following days:

• 7 June (in English)
• 6 September (in Dutch)
• 6 December (in English)

Please note 

• All faculty boards and the heads of service departments encourage newcomers to participate in the introduction programme. It has therefore been agreed that you will not have to use any vacation hours to attend the programme.  
• You will receive a written invitation by mail. You can also sign up by clicking on the button 'registration' (see below).
• We would like to emphasize that Dutch speakers may also sign up for the English programme.
