Uw-printer

Printing, scanning, photocopying and faxing from your workstation

Uw-printer

Uw-printer is the name of the service providing prints, scans, photocopies and faxes via multifunctionals and prints via printers. The service covering multifunctionals and printers has been professionalized and supported by policy.

Service programme outline

The service is jointly implemented by CIT, FB and Ricoh, the supplier.

  • CIT is responsible for the operational side, with the CIT Service Desk functioning as the point of contact for questions and assistance with problems with the multifunctionals and printers
  • FB is responsible for the ordering process and the invoicing, whereby the faculty or service facility managers are the point of contact for new printers or multifunctionals
  • Ricoh, the supplier, is responsible for dealing with any faults by constant remote monitoring of the equipment. Via so-called ‘fleet operators’, Ricoh will also ensure that there is always enough paper and toner to hand.

Equipment

Equipment is divided into network printers, stand-alone printers and multifunctionals, with a further division into black/white and colour. In addition to printing, multifunctionals can also scan and photocopy, and sometimes incorporate a fax machine as well. All multifunctionals that currently only operate as photocopying machines will be linked to the network so that they can offer all of their functionality.

All the equipment will be shielded from the public network. To connect a printer to your workstation, go to iPrint and follow the instructions. You can find more information about how to connect a printer via iPrint in the manuals.

Costs

In order to differentiate the costs to ‘centre codes’ and ‘project codes’, some units or faculties will use PIN codes to photocopy with multifunctionals. Each department in such a unit or faculty will be issued a PIN code that must first be entered before a photocopy can be made. All PIN codes for all the allocated multifunctionals will have been entered in advance within a unit or faculty. This means you will be able to photocopy anywhere you like.
The facility manager is in charge of the PIN codes and how they are allocated. Ricoh will enter the codes in the machines.
N.B. Please do not give the PIN codes to people who should not be using that centre code to photocopy.

Ordering procedure

The facility manager of a faculty or unit is responsible for providing sufficient printing, scanning and photocopying facilities in the buildings. The facility manager is therefore the only person who can order more equipment. Please contact him or her if you need extra capacity or functionality.
N.B. You are not allowed to order equipment yourself. All the equipment is leased and is not purchased.
