Arbeidsmarkt

The Master's track is broad in scope and gives students a solid foundation in international relations. There is consequently a wide range of employment opportunities for International Relations graduates. The most obvious profession is a policy advisor, but you could also become a researcher, lobbyist, diplomat, or PR officer. You can work in international business, non-profit or government organizations, in the media, and at a university or a private research institute.

Child Protection Officer at UNICEF Indonesia

I have always been interested in international relations, since I was exposed to people from various backgrounds from a young age. When I was 17, I was chosen to study as an exchange student in the USA for one year. There, I was involved in events in the fields of international politics and development. While discussing various topics with people from all over the world, I realized that if we want to solve the world's problems, we have to act together.

At the University of Groningen, I was lucky enough to receive the Faculty of Arts Talent Grant. I now think that it has been a tremendous help for me in getting my Master’s degree in International Relations and advancing my career. At the moment, I am working at UNICEF’s Indonesia office, where I have a position as Child Protection Officer.

My dream is to work in the United Nations headquarters in New York. The idea of working with people from all over the world while trying to advance development in the world is really intriguing for me. Global governance is connected to everything that the United Nations does. Since graduating from the University of Groningen, the dream does not seem to be as distant as before.
