DDM Operations Management

Programma

  • 1e jaar

    You will start at Newcastle University Business School. In Semester 1 (30 EC) you will have courses like Purchasing and Supply Chain Management, Technology Change and Innovation Management, Advanced Management Accounting, Operations Management. In Semester 2 you will study in Groningen (30 EC). You will follow courses like Asset Management, Process Improvement and Change, Data-driven Business Innovation, Behavioural Operations Management, Inventory Management, and Research Methods.

    Besides specialist knowledge and skills appropriate to pursue careers in operations management, technology management, supply chain management, general management or consulting, you will acquire personal and interpersonal skills, such as report writing, presentation, working in groups and an appreciation of working in a multicultural environment. Furthermore you will be taught advanced research skills, the ability to critically evaluate and utilise current research and to make a relevant contribution to organisations and research community.

    Note that you will always start the programme in the first semester (September/October) in Newcastle. It is not allowed to start MSc TOM courses which are in the double degree programme before having followed the Newcastle courses.

  • 2e jaar

    You write a 30 EC thesis in semester three, supported with workshops, in either Newcastle or Groningen. You will graduate with two degrees: an MSc in Technology and Operations Management from Groningen and an MSc Operations and Supply Chain Management from Newcastle.

    Graduates will receive two diploma supplements on which it will be noted that the respective degrees are awarded within the framework of the double degree programme between Newcastle University and the University of Groningen.

    The third semester of the programme will be about writing your thesis in either Groningen or Newcastle.
