The summer and winter school at the Faculty of Arts in Groningen are characterised by the unique combination of challenging scientific themes, interesting excursions and social programmes.

Although organised by this Faculty, they do not necessarily take place in Groningen. Belgrade is also a location where you can find our programmes.

What do our summer or winter schools entail?

  • an intensive academic programme of 8 to 12 days
  • multidisciplinary themes
  • taught by experts in the discipline, including international lecturers
  • excursions to institutions relevant to the subject matter
  • a chance to get to know another city and other students with the same interest
  • a social programme
  • a chance to earn study credits

The main target groups for these courses are 3rd year’s bachelor students, master students, and PhD students. Themes for 2009:

  • Transatlantic Perspectives on Security in the 21st Century (International Relations)
  • New Challenges in Security: Trends, Lessons and Developments (location: Belgrade)

Quotes from students Summer School:

  • ‘one of the most rewarding experiences abroad’
  • ‘excursions were perfect’
  • ‘I had a great time and I learned so many things that I will strongly recommend this to my friends’
