Euroculture, Europe in the Wider World is a unique European, interdisciplinary, multilingual MA Programme of 120 ECTS, during which the many different expressions and manifestations of self-understandings, societies, social groups and individuals of, about and within Europe are highlighted.

As a result of the ongoing transformation of Europe, the enlargement of the EU and globalization issues in recent years, a growing impact and awareness of cultural dispositions, conflicts and exchange have become evident. The undeniable relevance of values, identity concepts or perceptions requires sensitive and well-informed professionals in this field, to work as diplomats, bureaucrats, project managers, journalists and cultural consultants.

Aims

The MA Programme Euroculture, Europe in the Wider World aims to prepare graduates from all over the world for professions and research areas in which knowledge of present Europe and the European Union institutions are of relevance. The focus of the programme is on cultural and social developments, the political process of European integration, values, citizenship and cultural identity. The programme teaches students the methods and skills required to identify the European dimensions of social problems, to collect and process relevant information of European institutions and organisations and to reflect on the cultural aspects and factors that play a role in the process of European identity formation and European integration.

Consortium

The four semester MA programme is offered by a consortium of eight European universities. These universities are also partnered with four non-European universities. The consortium coordinating university is the University of Groningen.

Mandatory mobility between the different consortium universities is a crucial element of the Euroculture programme. Through its international exchange, the MA Programme Euroculture, offers the chance to gain experience with different languages, perspectives and cultural practices.
