PhD students TRIμP

The Kernfysisch Versneller Instituut (KVI, Groningen , The Netherlands) is a leading institute in the fields of fundamental and applied atomic and subatomic physics. KVI is operated by the University of Groningen (RUG) and the Dutch Research Foundation FOM.

The TRIμ P group of the Kernfysisch Versneller Instituut studies fundamental interactions and symmetries at low energies. The systems we study are radioactive atoms and ions using precision techniques involving atomic and nuclear physics and with theoretical support. The emphasis is on discrete symmetries, in particular, time-reversal violation and parity violation. We are looking for a PhD student who wants to join our activities in low-energy precision measurements. Our experiments include techniques for atom and ion trapping. We are seeking

Graduate students (PhD students) for our TRIμP research group

Academic training

The young researchers will receive a thorough training within the international research school FANTOM, which was recognised in 1994 by the Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences (KNAW). The research assistant will profit from the structured and multidisciplinary training and research programme. She/he will have the opportunity to experience many international contacts, among others in the biannual general FANTOM study weeks and in a work placement at a foreign laboratory.

Terms of employment

The successful candidates will be offered a PhD student contract for a period of four years. Research results may lead to a PhD degree.
