EKF Training School, Eger, Hungary
The schoolOur motto: School itself, is good for learning how to learn, for creating desire for knowledge, for getting the taste of well-done work, the taste of excitement while creating, for learning to love what we do and for finding the job we’ll love while doing it. (Albert Szentgyorgyi, Nobel prize scientist) As teacher training has very strong traditions in Eger, the training school has a longlasting connection to the „mother institution”, the teacher training centre of Eszterházy Károly College. In fact ,it has been the „in-service” training venue for student teachers for more than 35 years. The school offers primary and secondaryeducation for children and further education for young adults .It identifies itself as a flexible school for managing the changes and challenges in public and higher education.The directions of development lead us towards
The school has two buildings, both within a five-minute walk from the main building of the teacher training centre in the downtown of Eger. There are ordinary classes and classes specialized on information technology,on art , on music and on foreign languages (English, German and French) and one class studies Maths in English (as a venue for Jomite students). EKF training school also offers special services for its pupils in speech therapy and in recovery gymnastics. Alltogether there are 136 teachers working at EKF training school, 28 for lower elementary classes (19 with advanced special degrees) and 108 teachers for higher classes (56 with advanced special degrees). There are higher qualifications required from teachers working here than from teachers working at other schools. Three teachers have been working on theirPhD, one is a course book author. The school’s facilities include two language labs, three gyms, two sportfields, three art workshop rooms, two libraries(with reading rooms, teacher and student departments). Except them student teachers have access to all the facilities offered by the „mother institution”. Recently the school has won the title of being an environment-friendly school which boosts with a school-camp appr. twenty-five km from Eger , at the foot of the Mátra mountains (the highest mountain of Hungary). The camp is equipped with all conveniences (environment-friendly, of course).
