Institut d'Educació Secundària Sabadell, Sabadell, Spain (Catalonia)
The schoolIES Sabadell is a Secondary school located in Can Rull, a neighbourhood in the North-West of Sabadell, it is mainly composed by flats. The zone grew up due to the immigration wave of the 1960s. From the 2000 to nowadays, there has been a constant arrival of immigrants. The social-cultural and economic level of the students and their families is medium-low. IES Sabadell is a public secondary school. It depends on the Generalitat of Catalonia. The school identifies itself as a public, Catalan, democratic, secular and integrating centre. One of our identity features is that we understand the education as a global process where students can develop and improve their personal capacities. We have a curriculum that will cover the expectations of all the students. It could give the skills to get the objectives of every area. Scientist knowledge is as important as humanistic in student’s qualification for their future social and working life. The SEN (Special Educational Needs) is an important matter for the school. We welcome diverse students. There are deaf students who are taught by professional teacher of sign language. The centre educates teacher trainees for upper secondary education.
