Page content: Joint Models in Teacher EducationIn 2007, universities throughout Europe started the JoMiTE initiative. Originally intended to start a joint master in teacher education, it soon evolved to a network focusing on teacher education on several levels. Currently, JoMiTE is an international network of Teacher Education Institutions, focusing on master level and above, with the aim to increase the possibilities of teachers and teacher educators (in secondary education) to improve their professional develpment through international cooperation. Cultural and educational differences are for our network key values in the learning process. Although partners recognize and respect teacher competences that are not (directly) related to academic competences, the focus in this network is to stress those competenties that have an academic component. Therefor cooperation in research, especially done by teachers in secondary education, and supporting PhD's is for us important. The network seeks where possible the cooperation with schools as partners in the development process. This can be done by the following activities:
