Conference Joint Programmes in Teacher education


From 24-25 September 2009, the first Conference Joint Programs in Teacher Education will be organized in Prague. The conference will be organized by several European projects, including the JoMiTE projects SPriTE and JoCiTE and the EMETT and ETEPS project.

Dates & location

The dates of the conference or 24-25 September 2009. Location is the Charles University in Prague (Czech Republic).

Focus of the conference

The focus of the conference is on joint programs in teacher education on curriculum level. That includes also the organization of teaching practice and can include examples of specific subjects, like subject didactics and psychology courses. The conference focus incorporates primary and secondary teacher education and can be on bachelor or master level.

The objective of the conference is to make policy and decision makers in (teacher education) aware of the opportunities of joint programs in teacher education and the necessity of applying policy (university, national, European) to the possibility of such programs. A second objective is to promote such programs and get in contact with universities who want to participate.

Target group

We target on two different groups:

  • Policy makers in (teacher) education throughout Europe:
    • Representatives of the EU Agency
    • Representatives of Ministries for Education
    • Representatives of National/International boards who are responsible for teacher standards and teacher evaluation
  • Decision/policy makers in teacher education institutes:
    • Deans or heads of department of faculties of education
    • Project/international coordinators
    • Teacher educators (with focus on whole curriculum and/or teaching practice)

Invitation policy for participants and presentations

The conference is open for subscription for everyone who is interested. Presenters will be invited only by the participating projects. Presenters can be members of one of the participating projects, but can also come from outside the project.
