Assessing student teachers is different from most higher education assessments, because governments have specific demands for student teachers. Furthermore, some countries have specific organizations, outside the university, that are responsible for assessing the student teachers. This work package is meant to find out the different assessment procedures (like responsibility for the assessment, type of assessment etc.) to combine them to one assessment procedure that can be used within the Joint Master for Teacher Education.
Althought there are many differences in assessing student teachers, we found out that it these differences have no effect on regulations with regard to teacher graduation. The result of this package is that partners agreed upon to accept each others grading and assessments procedures, without developing a new assessment structure.
For comparing grades between each others institution and especially how to value a grade from a different country we make use of the article Karran, T. (2005). Pan-European Grading Scales: Lessons from National Systems and the ECTS. In: Higher Education in Europe, Vol. 30, No. 1, April 2005
