Next to wireless internet access in a large part of the university buildings the RUG also offers in collaboration with the Hanzehogeschool and the municipality of Groningen wireless internet access outside of the RUG buildings.
Outside the RUG buildings - Wireless Groningen
Since October 2009 you have, as an employee and student of the RUG, access to a wireless internet connection outside of the RUG buildings. You can freely use the network of Wireless Groingen which in the future will have complete city coverage.
This network is being implemented in collaboration with the RUG, Hanzehogeschool Groningen, the muncipality of Groningen, the
foundation Wireless Groningen
and the company UnWired throughout the entire city of Groningen and is available for all employees and studentens under the name:

Eduroam (with a capital E) - To establish a connection to this network you can select 'Eduroam' (with a capital E) from the list of available networks and you can use the same settings as you would use for the wireless internet access within RUG buildings. Within the RUG buildings
In a large part of the university buildings students and employees of the RUG and other educational institutions are able to use the wireless internet access. The available networks are:

RuG-FN2 - this network provides for students and employees of the RUG a wireless internet access with the buildings of the RUG. For the settings of this network please view our FAQ and manuals.

eduroam (with a lower case e) - this network provides, for both students and employees of other educational institutions as well as students and employees of the RUG, a wireless internet access within the buildings of the RUG. Is your educational institution or university affiliated to eduroam then select eduroam (with a lower case e) from the list of available networks. For guests

rug-guest - this network is available exclusively for guest of the RUG without a P- or S- number who are unable to establish a network connection through their own educational institution. Read more about the use and access to this network in our FAQ and manuals. To request accounts for your guests please use the designated web form and submit all the requested information.
Conditions
Before you can use the available wireless networks you need to be familiar with and agree with the conditions of the RUG facilities which have been set and documented in the Acceptable Use Policy.
