Symposium Algorithms and Skeletons

On my 65th birthday, Monday 21 February 2011, the section Fundamental Computing organizes a symposium "Building Algorithms and Skeletons" in the Zernikeborg (Donald Smitszaal 5431.0053), Nettelbosje 1, 9747 AJ Groningen.

It concludes with speech "65" in the Aula of the Academy building of the University, Broerstraat 5, 9712 CP Groningen (professors, no gowns / hoogleraren niet in toga).

The program for the day:

  • 09:30 - 10:00 arrival, coffee
  • 10:00 - 10:15 welcome
  • 10:15 - 11:00 Wilberd van der Kallen (Utrecht University): Integral medial axis and the distance between closest points. Hui Gao (Chengdu University) was earlier announced for this slot, but unfortunately he is not able to come.
  • 11:00 - 11:15 coffee break
  • 11:15 - 12:00 Alex Aravind (University of Northern British Columbia): Wim Hesselink's contribution to the Mutual Exclusion Problem
  • 12:00 - 13:45 lunch
  • 13:45 - 14:30 Jan Friso Groote (Eindhoven University): Waiting on parallel ATerms
