Admission rules for the Master's program

Bachelor's degree in Computing Sciece from a university outside the Netherlands

You are a student from outside the Netherlands and want to enter a Master course at our university. There is general information about entering our university (click here). Please follow the instructions on this page. If you have questions please contact one of the student advisors. Also, some of the information for Exchange Students may be relevant (click here).

To be admitted to the Master program Computing Science you need to use the new studielink system. You can click here to enter this online application system.

You need to have to have a bachelor degree in Computing Science at a level comparable with one from a Dutch university. To be able to determine this we need the following:

  1. A copy of your bachelor certificate (in English)
  2. A list of all courses (credits and grades) that you followed, along with short description  (30-40 words) of the content of the relevant courses, mainly consisting of the concepts treated.

This is needed because of the large differences in educational systems around the world.

Moreover you need to provide  evidence of fluency in reading and speaking English. Minimum requirements are:

  • a TOEFL score (paper-based) of at least 600, or
  • a TOEFL score (computer-based) of at least 250, or
  • a score of at least 7.0 on the IELTS test, or
  • a C on the Cambridge Certificate Advanced in English (CAE, level 4), or
  • a C on the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE, level 5)

See for instance http://www.ets.org/toefl/ for information about the new TOEFL test from ETS (Educational Test Services).

When we receive all these documents a committee will convene. They decide about admitting you to our master program (as described in section 3.1 of the general document above). You will be notified of that decision.

After that you need to confirm that you want to enroll, and if so the official subscription papers will be sent to you. Information about tuition fees can be found here.
