There are many reasons why you might want to choose Groningen as the place to study Computing Science. The city has received awards for best inner city, best student city and European city with the highest quality of life. But the university also has plenty  to offer:

Great facilities

The department of computing science has recently moved to a new building, where students and staff hae access to modern technical facilities. The building has plenty of space to study, a library, and a cafeteria. We also have access to a number of very spacial facilities in the areas of visualization and supercomputing.

Visualization...

Cooperation with the Centrum for High Performance Computing en Visualisatie (HPC/V) gives both staff members and students access to unique and very advanced facilities, which have recently been upgraded, like:

  • The Reality Cube , a 3D environment with four walls surrounding the viewer.
  • A " 3D theater ", a large wall with stereo projection for a larger audience.

...and supercomputers

There are also several supercomputers in Groningen: several computerclusters and the STELLA supercomputer with over 12000 processors. Students will also be given access to this kind of facilities during their studies.

Accessible teachers

Because the department is relatively small, teachers are almost always available for questions.
