General information

Research within the University of Groningen (RUG) and the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) is organized in Graduate Schools. The Graduate School of Medical Sciences (GSMS) is the GS of the UMCG. All research activities of the GSMS are embedded within four research institutes;the Research Institute for Health Research - SHARE -is one of these.

SHARE Research is conducted within research programs, with each their own core theme. More information about the programs, including an overview of current projects and a link to the program's publications and dissertations is to be found under Research Programs.

Registration
All PhD students involved in a research project within SHARE should register as a SHARE-member. Registration forms can be found on the SHARE-blackboard page. All SHARE members (including supervisors and supporting staff) have access to this page.

Registration includes personal and project data as well as the Training and Supervision Plan, which PhD students are required to fill out for their training program.
This program is not a fixed course plan. Every PhD students develops his / her individual plan together with the supervisor (a detailed plan for courses and activities for the first year of the PhD project and a more global plan for the rest of the PhD project).

Registration as a SHARE-member provides you with a professional research environment, with invitations for yearly SHARE-research meetings and Spring Symposia, SHARE seminars and free access to courses offered by the UMCG.

PhD Welcome Guide
On the SHARE blackboard you will find also a Welcome guide, made by the PhD council, with all you need to know as a new PhD student about SHARE.
