General informationThe Graduate School of Medical Sciences (GSMS) trains and educates excellent researchers and promotes excellent research. The GSMS is responsible for all research, Research Master and PhD training, including the 'Junior Scientific Masterclass’, a special track for talented medical students, within the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG).
Research within the GSMS ranges from fundamental to patient-oriented (clinical) research. The Graduate School of Medical Sciences (GSMS) deals with four main scientific areas, along the lines of which the teaching program has been developed. The four areas are:
1. Behavioral and Cognitive Science (Research Institute BCN-BRAIN/BCN) 2. Drug Exploration and Chronic Diseases (Research Institute GUIDE) 3. Health Research (Research Institute SHARE) 4. Biomedical Engineering and Materials Science (Research Institute W.J. Kolff)
Each subject is represented by an Institute with its own office dealing with course organization and registration in its particular field. Below are the offices and contact persons.
