About research

The themes of the faculty’s research encompass all the behavioural and social sciences: It ranges from research into the functioning of the human brain on micro level to the analysis of large-scale processes in society.

However different the requirements may be for the individual areas, all research must be carried out to the same high standard. After all, only knowledge gained through high-level research is valuable and useful. Every six years, the faculty’s research is assessed by an external body. Research of the faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences is embedded in three Research Institutes:

• The Heymans Institute for Psychological Research

• The Nieuwenhuis Institute  for Educational Research

• The Groningen Centre for Social Science Research
