In 1984 the Notices of the Institute for Liturgical Research of the University of Groningen, so far published at irregular intervals, were reshaped into a yearbook. Since 1996 this Yearbook for Liturgical Studies has been a joint publication of the Institute for Liturgical Research (now the Institute for Christan Cultural Heritage) in Groningen and the Liturgical Institute (now the Institute for Liturgical and Ritual Studies) in Tilburg. In course of time it has grown into the most distinguished forum for the whole gamut of liturgy researchers.
The Yearbook aims at the study of Christian liturgy of every tradition, in all eras and in all its facets. Thus space is not only devoted to ritual and textual aspects – traditionally well represented – but also to contributions about music, architecture and iconography. Besides these main themes there has recently been growing attention for ‘Ritual Studies’.
Contributions are for the greater part in Dutch, as well as English, French or German, and usually count ten to thirty pages. To get an idea of the wide range of subjects treated in the twenty volumes published, the table of contents of the volumes still available (from 1993) can be downloaded here [DOC].
The editors are: prof.dr. Marcel Barnard (Utrecht), dr. Justin Kroesen (Groningen), prof.dr. Paul Post (Tilburg, eindredacteur), dr. Thomas Quartier, prof. dr. Gerard Rouwhorst (Utrecht), dr. Louis van Tongeren (Tilburg).
