Bachelor-before-Master rule

In Dutch: 'harde knip'

As of 1 September 2012 students will no longer be able to start a Master’s degree programme until they have gained their Bachelor’s degree – in Dutch this rule is called ‘harde knip’. The rule applies to all students, including students of the bridging programmes.

However, to prevent students from incurring unnecessary study delay, a number of conditions have been formulated: each Master’s degree programme must have at least a second starting date.

The ‘harde knip’, combined with the long-term student regulation, means that students must plan their study programme better than before. Please feel free to contact your study advisor or the student counsellors at the Student Service Centre if you have any questions after you have drawn up your study plan.
