Workshop Governance meets Law  

On 23-24 June 2011 the workshop “Governance Meets Law” will be organized in Het Kasteel in Groningen. The main objective of this workshop is to provide scholars from potentially every field of law with a platform for structured discussion about the governance dimension(s) of the law.

7 October 2010: Introductory drinks gathering visitors and Academic Director

The faculty of law has recently appointed six new professors as visitors. These professors, who are from England, Sweden, Canada and South Africa, will visit Groningen for a few months a year to do research together will the Groningen research community. They will, together with the new Academic Director of the GCL: Aurelia Colombi Ciacchi, be introduced to us during an festive introductory drinks gathering, which will also mark the beginning of the study year. Food will be provided in the form of a buffet.

The gathering will take place on 7 October, from 16.00 h in the personnel canteen (first floor). All employees of the Faculty of Law are cordially invited! Please send an e-mail to Eelke van der Ree: e.j.van.der.ree@rug.nl if you are staying for the buffet (18.00 h).

 

4 juni 2010: IALTA’s First International Land Expert Meeting Successfully Held

The International Alliance on Land Tenure and Administration (IALTA), an initiative of the Faculty of Law of the University of Groningen in partnership with major Dutch and international universities and institutions to promote multidisciplinary research collaboration among researchers, practitioners and policy-makers, successfully held its first international expert internal meeting at the KNAW in Amsterdam on 4 June 2010. 18 and 18 November 2009: Conference Legal and Policy Framework for Carbon Capture Storage

On 17 and 18 november 2009 the Groningen Centre of Energy Law (GCEL) organizes a seminar on the 'Legal and Policy Framework for Carbon Capture Storage', as part of the Energy Delta Convention in Groningen. At the conference GCEL presents a new monograph entitled “Legal Design of Carbon Capture and Storage: Developments in the Netherlands from an International and EU Perspective”, written by 15 members of GCEL within the Faculty of Law in Groningen.

 

17 November 2009: Congres Regulating the Public Interest (GCL)

On 17 november 2009 a conference with the topic 'Regulating the Public Interest' is organised by the GCL, in cooperation with the Department of Legal Theory and the Department of Administrative Law & Public Administration. At the conference two new books on the rise of the regulatory state and the changing role of public and private regulation will be presented.

11 June 2009: Poster presentation (GCL)

On the occasion of the launch of the Groningen Centre for Law and Governance (GCL) on Thursday 11^th June, the Faculty of Law held its first poster presentation. A pproximately 30 researchers of the University of Groningen and the VU University Amsterdam presented their research by means of a poster. [Read more...]
