Introduction

Groningen Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnology Institute (GBB) is a research institute working in the fields of proteins - their structure and catalytic activity, the regulation of their synthesis, their transport and compartmentalization, and their application in the fields of biotechnology and medicine.

The common goal of the GBB research groups is two-fold:

  • to develop fundamental insights into the regulation of genes and their corresponding proteins , including the interactions in gene and protein networks;

  • to develop fundamental insights into the physical chemical principles which determine
    the structure, stability, dynamics and catalytic activity of proteins;

  • to use this knowledge to apply proteins more effectively to biotechnological processes and medical issues.

On the left side of this page (sub menu), you can visit the sites of the thirteen GBB research groups.
