Citizens' initiatives ask for tailored approaches and enthusiasm

Looking for smart collaborations between residents and the housing corporation
28 June 2017
Increasingly often, citizens are willing or expected to arrange matters in the street or neighbourhood by themselves. The housing corporation or municipality is no longer automatically in the lead. It is the resident him/herself who regularly takes the reins. Researchers Ward Rauws, Ruben Bouwman and George de Kam of the University of Groningen show that there is a large variety of citizens' initiatives. In their "Wie is aan de buurt?" report, it is also clear that they share one goal: strengthening contact between residents. In addition, enthusiasm and appreciation from professionals prove to be a great support for citizens' initiatives.
