Page content: What is it? The honours college provides talented and motivated students with small-scale, challenging programs in order to offer students the best opportunities to use their talents to the very best of their abilities. The honours college comprises an advanced part (25 ects) and a broadening part (20 ects) on top of the regular bachelor programme. You can find more information on the Honours website: www.rug.nl/honours
What is it about? The Faculty of Spatial Sciences offers various modules within the advanced part. One module is called 'Breakthrough Ideas'. In this module you discuss a number of key publications about breakthrough ideas from the various disciplines within the faculty. Another module is an in-depth extension of a module from the regular program chosen by the students. This year they selected the module ‘the Urban Challenge’. A third module is ‘Planning project Analysis’ which concerns the analysis of a spatial planning project abroad which appeals to ones imagination. This year the students will visit New Orleans and study the spatial planning of the city. Besides the advanced part, the faculty offers a programme for the broadening part for student from other faculties. Students from the Spatial Science faculty can chose modules from other faculties. This year the module ‘Dealing with Environmental Heritage’ is offered.
How to enrol? The most important is to be motivated. After semester 1b students with thehighest grades will receive an invitation to apply for the honours college, however other students with high grades and strong motivation are encouraged to apply as well.
