This is the annual report for 2010 of the units of
PharmacoEpidemiology & PharmacoEconomics
and
Pharmacotherapy & Pharmaceutical Care
from the University of Groningen (Rijksuniversiteit Groningen; RuG).
Both units have integrated an important part of their educational and scientific activities. The units are part of the graduate schools of Science, GUIDE and SHARE.
Within SHARE, we participate in the section of Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM).
EBM is constituted together with the Epidemiology, Clinical Pharmacology and GP Medicine departments of the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG).
Also, we host the North-east regional office of the Netherlands Pharmacovigilance Centre Lareb. As last year’s report, the current report is again restricted to new information only. The aim is to briefly inform about new scientific projects, new colleagues (scientific and staff members) and the scientific activities and publications of 2010. Further information about ongoing projects, staff members and other scientists in our departments can be found at our websites.
Notably, next to new PhDs (see later in this report) this year we were very happy to welcome some new colleagues to the research staff: Prof Eelko Hak holding the new chair on Clinical Pharmacoepidemiology, Angelique Heerings as research assistant and postdocs Hao Wang and Hoa Le, recently having arrived from Germany and the USA, respectively. We are looking forward to a new exciting scientific year with these new colleagues and within the network comprising other academic partners, pharmacists and international colleagues. We would like to thank you all for past, continued and future collaborations.
