Introduction

Within the department, research is performed on several area's which are interconnected. In the research area homogeneous catalysis, we work on catalytic (asymmetric) carbon-carbon bond formation, catalytic (asymmetric) carbon-hydrogen bond formation, and new (P-chiral) ligands for homogeneous catalysis and organocatalysis. In the research area natural product chemistry, we work on the total synthesis of mycobacterial (glyco)lipids, total synthesis of complex polyketides, and structure elucidation of natural products by total synthesis. The latter topic in collaboration with microbiologists and chemical ecologists. In the research area chemical biology, we work on pathogen-host interactions of M. tuberculosis and M. ulcerans , and the study of (myco)bacterial membranes incorporating channel proteins and pores. The former is in collaboration with immunologists. The latter is in collaboration with biochemists. Currently, the group consists next to the group leader, of 1 postdoc, 8 PhD students (two of them shared with the research programme Synthetic Organic Chemistry), 3 master students (two of them guests from other universites) and 3 trainees.

The research group of prof. Minnaard maintains its own website.
