The Groningen Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnology Institute (GBB) is a research institute at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Groningen. GBB also acts as accredited Dutch research school and since 2010 is embedded within the Graduate School of Science.
In view of research and education, the common goal of the GBB and it research groups is:
-
to develop fundamental insights into the regulation of genes and their corresponding proteins , including the interactions in gene-, protein-, and metabolic networks;
-
t
o develop fundamental insights into the physical chemical principles which determine the structure, stability, dynamics and catalytic activity of proteins;
-
to use this knowledge to design, engineer and apply microorganisms and enzymes effectively in a biobased economy (biotechnology, biorefinery, sustainable chemistry) as well as in health;
-
to provide an attractive and well-equipped research and training environment to educate young scientists (BSc, MSc and PhD) in biomolecular sciences.
