Professor Damien Power of the University of Melbourne has been appointed part-time Professor of Global Operations Management at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Groningen. In addition to his extensive experience in academic research and teaching, Power also has more than twenty years of practical experience in the field of operations management in various sectors, including construction, food, electronics and telecommunications. His appointment will therefore provide further reinforcement to the empirical research conducted by the Operations Department.
Damien Power studied Business at Monash University and gained his PhD at the same university with a thesis entitled Characteristics and Determinants of Business to Business E-Commerce Implementation in Australian Organisations. He is currently Associate Professor at the Department of Management and Marketing of the Faculty of Economics and Commerce of the University of Melbourne. Power teaches course units in the fields of Project Management and Supply Chains.
Until 2000 he worked in industry, as an operations manager at Schlumberger, Department Manager at NEC and Production Manager at Linda Electric Industries.
