‘We always like to compare our performance to the USA’s vast academic production, but perhaps that is not always wise’, according to Prof. Wilfred Dolfsma of the Faculty of Economics and Business.
‘If you calculate the impact of research on the basis of actual citations instead of on the value of the journal they are in, you will see that the US is lower on the ranking list than – for example – the Netherlands!’
The professor shows his findings on a map of the world, indicating that the US scores much lower than expected.
