On 9 November at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Dr. Onno de Beaufort Wijnholds will present his recent book, an insider account of recent financial crises, illuminating the lessons which have been learned, forgotten or ignored. The former professor of the FEB also served as an Executive Director of the IMF.

In his lecture at the Faculty of Economics and Business, dr. Wijnholds will present his recent book, an insider account of recent financial crises, illuminating the lessons which have been learned, forgotten or ignored. He explores the nature of financial crises, examining common characteristics such as a lack of openness, overborrowing and dysfunctional domestic politics. He proposes a new monetary framework to save the global system from future collapse.
CV Wijnholds
Dr. Wijnholds served as an Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund from 1994 to 2003, and Permanent Representative of the European Central Bank in the United States from 2003. He is now an independent monetary policy advisor. He worked earlier at De Nederlandsche Bank (Central Bank of the Netherlands) and as a professor by special appointment in Money and Banking at the University of Groningen.
